Tolima achieved an important draw to continue as the leader of Colombian soccer by drawing 1-1 against Jaguares, on date 15 of the BetPlay League.
The meeting got off balance very quickly, but not because of a goal, but because of a controversial action. Yeison Gordillo went to dispute the ball with Pablo Bueno and ended up stepping on it without apparent intention. However, after the review in the VAR, Judge Wilmar Roldán decided to show the red card.
Faced with this decision, coach Hernán Torres decided to remove Juan Pablo Nieto and give Guillermo Celis a place on the field.
Tolima tried not to change his style of play, but undoubtedly having one less player diminished him offensively and although Jaguares had more ball, he was not deep to generate goal options.
However, in the final minutes of the first half, Roldán whistled a penalty in favor of Tolima in the last play and Andrey Estupiñán changed it for a goal to go to the break with the victory 0-1.
That goal did not diminish Jaguares, who for the complementary part came out much more determined to tie the match. A sample of them was taking Sebastián Ayala (recovery midfielder) off the field and putting Roger Lemus (forward) in.
Jaguares was very insistent, but he could not find spaces through which to penetrate a Tolima defense that was defending closer and closer to Álvaro Montero.
Finally, at 72, a center from Jhon Stiwar García was not well rejected and Pablo Bueno appeared to finish off the goal with power and thus declared it 1-1.
Although Jaguares continued to search very insistently to achieve the goal that would give them the victory as a local, they did not get it and Tolima drew a draw that ensures him in the leader of the table one more date.
