It was time. Junior again tasted the honeys of victory, after six consecutive games without knowing it, by beating a weak Deportivo Pereira 2-0, yesterday afternoon at the Hernán Ramírez Villegas stadium, and remained among the eight best in the League at end of day 15.
A time was enough to overcome the Risaraldense club. James Sánchez, at 3 minutes into the game, and Dany Rosero, at 40, resolved the result in favor of the Sharks, who used a mixed team thinking about the duel against Flamengo, on Wednesday at 7:30 pm, in the Maracaná Stadium, in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), on the last date of Group A of the Copa Libertadores, where they depend on a miracle to qualify for the second round, although a place in the Copa Sudamericana is also at stake.
The first stage was one of total dominance for Junior. From the first minute he took the initiative and took advantage of the weaknesses of his adversary, erratic in the rejections and in the delivery, candid on the mark, lacking inspiration and toothless to hurt the offense.
A skirmish by Jairo Molina, who slipped through Germán Mera’s area and defined totally off the track, was the only thing the host offered in the attack throughout the game. For the rest, all the emotions were put by the visitor.
At 3 minutes into the game, James Sánchez, who led the shark touch along with Larry Vásquez, made his debut at the U-20 and newcomer goalkeeper of the Matecaña team (the three main ones are injured) with a very strong and remote-controlled left-handed shot that he cleaned the cobwebs in the upper left corner.
Sánchez grabbed the ball, stinging and outlined with his less skilled leg, but did not stop. He fired like in his best sniper days and made the mark, far from being avoided by the young guard. The bullet passed a great distance from his outstretched
There was no Pereira reaction. ‘El Tiburon’ was master of the game. Hip Hip Hooray. He played at will against the warmth of his opponent, but he needed to refine the final thrust to complete the task.
Michael Rangel and Carmelo Valencia went out into the ring in search of the second goal, but rookie Daniel Fajardo was successful a couple of times against ‘Tutunendo’, while the Santander did not arrive on time to pass or was waiting for them. Luis ‘Cariaco’ González tried to repeat the long distance dose, but the caretaker responded well.
It was clear that the second and third of Junior was closer, than the draw of Deportivo Pereira, who was still meekly protecting his gate and looking for the opposite.
However, despite the notable superiority, the second goal was late in coming. Only until minute 44, when James Sánchez finally sent an ideal center for Dany Rosero to satisfy his great offensive passing game.
The 2-0 reflected a little better what had happened in the opening period.
Already in the second half, Pereira remained cold and weak. He did not show self-love, he did not take out his matecaña claw.
Junior continued to handle the ball and the best options, but could not finalize the third. It lacked more forcefulness and decision, not to lower the foot of the accelerator.
Luis Amaranto Perea moved his bench and made the five substitutions. Cetré, Teófilo, Borja, Piedrahíta and Pico entered the field to put the victory in the freezer and try to increase the score, but the first wasted two clear goal situations, one over the ‘palo e mango’ and another against him Fajardo’s left post.
Gabriel Fuentes, who reappeared after passing through the Colombian National Team for seniors, was the other who had the third, but like Cetré, he sent it to the clouds. Luckily the rival was tame and the victory was already resolved after six dates without savoring it.
