A Miami-Dade street is now called Álvaro Uribe Way
. It is located between Kendall and Westchester, on 117 avenue. Place where several Colombians, supporters of the former president, they made a caravan to inaugurate it.

“A tribute to that person who has been so persecuted, but who freed us from so many things,” said Ana Herrero, an Uribista living in Miami.

“It is a city that truly recognizes what President Álvaro Uribe Vélez has done, they know the president very well,” said Fabio Andrade, an Uribe leader in Miami.

There were nine votes in favor and two against, but the decision raised controversy among part of the Colombian community residing in South Florida.

“What will be next? Fujimori Way? Tirofijo Way? We cannot have any of this, we have figures like Falcao, Shakira, we have so many figures that represent the positive of our country, ”claimed Carlos Naranjo, a Miami resident.

Hours earlier, on one side of Álvaro Uribe Way street, Colombian activists had installed posters with the photo of prison review of the former president
, accompanied by a message about the investigations against him.

It is expected that the plaque that will identify this street with the name of the former Colombian president will be installed in the next few days.
