The mass in the San Roque church, in Ibagué, was not the same this Friday. A woman left an abandoned baby under a church pew.
According to witnesses, a young woman who participated in the Eucharist left her little son abandoned.
The baby’s cry caught the attention of those present.
The priest José Ruiz told the newspaper El Tiempo that the minor was fortunately rescued safe and sound.
“It was left abandoned under a temple bench so we immediately notified the police,” said the priest.
The youngest was crying hungry and was left wrapped in a blanket.
“I saw her nervous, but I never imagined that that mother had the heart to leave her little son lying down,” said a witness.
The Childhood and Adolescence Police rescued him and took him to the Ibagué Health Unit where his health condition was confirmed, which does not present complications.
Later, he was taken to the pediatric unit of the Federico Lleras Hospital where he receives care.
Now the authorities are after the search for the mysterious woman to know the origin of the minor.
The case was also attended by the Family Welfare Institute.
