Since the end of 2013, Raul Giraldo is the largest shareholder of Deportivo Independiente Medellín. Now, in a video posted on the club’s social networks, Giraldo announced the sale of his share package.

“I want to tell you that after so many years of tireless work I decided to start the process of selling my participation in the club and there is an international soccer company that has shown interest. A confidentiality agreement was signed with them, seeking that the team remains in the best hands, to ensure that they continue with this process and improve our management. As time goes by, we will continue to give details, “Giraldo said.

During the period in which he was in charge of the club, Medellín won a League title (2016-I) and last year won the Colombia Cup. However, the club’s present is not good, sportingly speaking: it ranks 13th in the League and was eliminated from the Copa Libertadores in the group stage.

“I arrived with a dream and I fulfilled a wish that I know many of you also want to fulfill. I worked correctly and honestly throughout my life and I was able to lead the team of my loves, with successes and mistakes, but always with the intention and the desire to do the best to have the club that the fans deserve “, added the maximum shareholder of DIM.

Giraldo reiterated that the club is up to date on all its obligations and hopes to maintain the sporting course while the sale is finalized.

“I know that while this transition process advances, it is important to strengthen the team with the arrival of players who deserve to wear the DIM shirt and accompany our project, that is why we will continue working and guaranteeing this objective,” he concluded.
