A twist was given to the investigation against the soldiers linked to the Report of sexual abuse committed against an Embera indigenous minor in Risaralda. Several uniformed men revealed that they were pressured by superiors to lie before the Prosecutor’s Office.

In the middle of the disciplinary trial against seven Army soldiers engaged in the rape of an indigenous minor from the Embera community last June
, in the Santa Cecilia district of Pueblo Rico, other members of the Artillery Battalion No. 8 Batalla de San Mateo declared that they did not participate in the events.

The aforementioned affirmed that they lied to the Prosecutor’s Office about the events that occurred four months ago, complying with the instructions of a superior. The delegate attorney questioned these uniformed men.

When asked why he lied, regular soldier Daniel López pointed out that he did. “Under pressure, because they did not let us advise anyone and the only one who advised us was the commander himself and he was the one who told us to say (…) Vice First Sergeant Díaz ”.

Another of the uniformed men pointed out that they lied to the Prosecutor’s Office in Pereira because “it was an order from me first that said not to say what had happened (…) that we were in a school.”

Faced with the attorney’s question about why he could not say that they were in a school, he replied that they should not do so “because supposedly we could pack ourselves.”

At the hearing, six of the soldiers who testified agreed on this version. It is expected that on October 16, another six members of the same military unit will finish declaring.
