Again the mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero Calle, was involved in a controversy on social networks, to the point that this Monday the number #RevocatoriaDanielQuintero is trending.

The reasons that twitter users argue are several, but one of them has to do with some photos that circulate on the internet, in which garbage management is seen in various places in the city.

In the photos you can see several garbage bags and debris in the corners, some with scattered waste.

Given this, Emvarias, the company in charge of garbage collection in the city, replied: “This is a problem that affects our operation and, above all, the city. Daily we carry out control operations on main roads and pedagogy for the proper management of rubble and waste. The commitment belongs to everyone and we require citizen support! ”

Another criticism of Quintero has to do with a new rumor of a new party, although this has not been confirmed.

Just a week ago, several local media released information according to which the mayor would be having a party with more than 100 people, which goes against the few measures in force for the covid-19, which includes the ban on events of more than 50 people.

Although on October 7, the mayor responded to the criticism with various clarifications, one of them that the place of the party was not his house, this Monday again went to collation the issue among the twitter.

Another aspect they criticize in Twitrer is the fact that the mayor has resorted to talking about his daughter on several occasions, especially in controversial moments.

“Mayor @QuinteroCalle exposing your daughter’s illness to generate sympathy and victimize yourself is the most vile and unscrupulous thing you can be. As a lousy ruler but as a Ruin Human being simply Ruin,” Juan Diego Mejía trilled.

Controversy did not start this Monday

Collectives such as No Copio, recognized by the ‘Nothing Justifies Homicide’ campaign declared themselves in opposition a few days ago, because they criticize the way in which the mayor has addressed the problem of violence in the city in the 10 months that he has had a mandate.

“It is definitely time for citizens to start a process without exceptions to change the political class that is camouflaged and masked in many ways“, reads a statement from NoCopio.

Another point made by this group is that the Quintero Calle Administration is not coherent between action and speech.

“The Non-Violence Secretariat is not a serious proposal and it does not resolve the militarism and other heavy-handed policies that have been defined in response to the protest and in the configuration of the Security Secretariat, but above all we have a very bad opinion of the ethics of Daniel Quintero Calle “, says the document.

Another criticism of the mayor has to do with his campaign promises, which include lowering utility rates. Regarding this, Councilor Alfredo Ramos said that on this issue “they deceived Medellín.”

“Medellín, they promised to freeze utility rates. Do you know anyone who has frozen it? On the contrary, every day we receive complaints of increased bills. They cheated Medellín “trilled Ramos, who belongs to the Democratic Center and lost the contest against Quintero a year ago.

So far, Quintero has not commented on the controversy.
