Polo senator Iván Cepeda, who acts as a victim in the process against Álvaro Uribe for the alleged manipulation of witnesses, said that he respects but it does not share the decision taken by the judge 30 of control of guarantees to grant the freedom to the former president, who was in house arrest since last August 3.

The judge pointed out that when the process went through the system, the investigation was led by the Prosecutor’s Office He must advance in the investigations that will allow him to reach the decision whether or not to charge former President Uribe.

Faced with this decision, Senator Cepeda announced that he will appeal the judicial decision.

One of the major concerns of the senator and his lawyer was the performance of the prosecutor Gabriel Jaimes Durán, during the judicial proceeding, who, according to the congressman, developed “a political script.”

“It seems very serious to us that the prosecutor Gabriel Jaimes has developed a political script in this performance. Their partiality is evident and, therefore, we consider that there is no guarantee for the rights of the victims in this process, ”said Cepeda.
In any case, this judicial decision does not imply that the process against the former president is over. The investigation is now continuing in the ordinary courts.
