The Cartagen authorities managed to capture four tourists who would have caused a fire that consumed 10 kiosks in Playa Blanca, a tourist site in that city.

According to the Police, these people caused the fire after spending a whole day consuming liquor in an establishment. Hours later, they assured that they had stolen 700 thousand pesos.

Colonel Harold Melo, commander of the Industrial District and Cartagena Bay, referred to the conflagration: “They cannot find 700 thousand pesos and there is an altercation with the owner of the kiosk.”

However, Ángel González, owner of one of the kiosks that were consumed by the flames, denied the version.

“That is a lie, those gentlemen did not lose any money or have fights with the inhabitants. They set fire and left as if nothing, ”said González.

Saferina Miranda, another affected person, assured that the flames consumed everything in their path: “Everything was distressing, we lost everything, we have nothing, we don’t even have anything to eat. We do not know what to do. We ask the mayor for help ”.

Francisco Miranda, a damaged businessman, stated that “I lost everything. Four boats, eight engines, my house and my clothes were lost. I only had what I’m wearing ”.

The community denounces that the Cartagena fire department took up to an hour to arrive at the site of the conflagration.

The rescuers said they took so long as the area is difficult to access. While dousing the flames, two firefighters were injured, one of them received a 3-month disability.

The tourists came to Playa Blanca in a vehicle, which was destroyed and looted by the angry community. The three men and the woman captured were beaten by the inhabitants of Barú.
