17 deaths and 679 new infections this Friday

In Valle del Cauca, 17 more citizens died from covid-19 and 679 contracted the disease, the Ministry of Health confirmed this Friday.

In this way, Valle del Cauca, the fourth department in Colombia with the highest contagion rate, behind Cundinamarca, Antioquia and Atlántico, reached 68,231 cases of coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.

The deaths correspond to patients from Cali (12), Tuluá (2), Palmira, Candelaria and Cartago (1).

At the national level 8,121 new cases were reported, bringing the total to 894,300.

Of these, 84,259 remain active, while 780,547 outgrew the virus.

Across the country, 164 deaths from covid-19 were reported. Deaths due to the disease are already 27,495.

The National Institute of Health, INS, clarified that 147 of the reported deaths occurred in previous days.

On the other hand, he pointed out that this Friday 32,860 PCR tests and 16,771 antigens were processed for the detection of the virus.
