As relief agencies tried to extinguish the flames, The residents attacked the alleged perpetrators of the fire with blows, including three adult men and a 16-year-old adolescent.

“These citizens were transferred to the assistance center for their medical attention and be left at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office for the crimes of damage to someone else’s property and fire,” added Melo.
The emergency did not leave people injured, but there is considerable material damage at a critical time for this island area, where tourist activity has not yet been reactivated and restrictions have affected the economy of several workers.
