The International Air Transport Association (Iata, for its acronym in English) asked the National Government to clarify as soon as possible who should be required to test for covid-19 with a negative result, given that there are contradictions between the standards issued by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the UAE of Migration Colombia, through Resolutions 1627 of September 15, 2020 and 2232 of September 17, 2020, which are contained in the protocols for international travel.

Colombia began the phase of international flights on September 21 and imposed the negative PCR COVID-19 test as a requirement for entering the country. But the doubts and ambiguities generated by the aforementioned resolutions have had an impact on the operation and on their application.

According to the union, while the regulation of the Ministry of Health clearly indicates that every traveler, whether Colombian or not, must comply with the requirement, Resolution 2232 issued by Migración Colombia, in the third paragraph of article 2, says that “In the case of Colombian citizens who arrive in the country without negative covid-19 test, it will be written in the passport that they must comply with ‘responsible isolation for 14 days’Likewise, a record will be made in the Platinum PCM application, field F-7 “.

Therefore, Iata sent a letter on September 25 addressed to the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Civil Aeronautics, and Migration Colombia, in order to request clarification to avoid inconveniences or gaps in its application.

In the letter Authorities are asked to explicitly define whether passengers (nationals and residents) must present negative evidence cAs a condition of shipment or not, prior to the trip.

“We are grateful in advance for the willingness of the Colombian authorities to work hand in hand with the industry in the reopening of air service. Our purpose is to continue complying with the provisions established by the Government, so we hope to obtain greater clarity regarding these issues that are essential to give faithful and timely compliance with the biosafety protocols “, indicated Peter Cerdá, Regional Vice President of Iata the Americas.
