The 103rd edition of the Giro d’Italia disputes this Thursday its sixth stage, a day of 189 kilometers that will link the Italian towns of Castrovillari and Matera.
The organizers of the ‘corsa rosa’ have designed for today a stage initially moved and articulated both planimetrically and altimetrically within the Pollino National Park. After passing the Monte Cotugno lake, you enter a flatter part that crosses the province of Matera in the direction of the capital. In the final part the runners will face various ups and downs that lead to the finish.
The last kilometers take place in a gentle descent to the last kilometer, with the last 800 meters uphill slightly.
Portuguese Joao Almeida (Deceunick-Quick Step), who donned the ‘pink jersey’ after finishing eleventh in the third stage, will defend the lead with 43 seconds ahead of Spanish Pello Bilbao (Bahrain-McLaren) and 48 over the Dutch Wilco Kelderman (Sunweb). [Clasificaciones completas]
The peloton will leave Castrovillari on time at 11:50 a.m. (CEST) and its arrival in Matera is scheduled for 4:26 p.m.
