Far from the combative tone of the past debate between Trump and Biden, vice-presidential formulas Kamala Harris and Mike Pence held the first (and only) face to face between the two.

Harris insistently attacked the Trump administration’s management of the pandemic and explained several of his campaign’s programmatic proposals.

For his part, Pence tried to highlight the achievements of the four years in office and pointed to China as the culprit of the pandemic.

“Biden and Harris said they will increase taxes. They want to bury the economy by abolishing fossil fuels and abolishing ‘fracking’ and they are going to beat and yield to China. Biden wants to repeal all the tariffs that Trump put in place,” he added.

“Joe Biden is not going to raise taxes on people who earn less than $ 400,000 and he will not abolish fracking,” Harris defended.

Kamala Harris said there is a fundamental difference between Trump and Biden. “Trump measures economic strength based on how the rich do, so he approved a project that benefits the largest US corporations that has led to a deficit of 2 trillion dollars,” he said.

“Joe Biden has been transparent compared to Donald Trump. Not only with his health, but also with regard to taxes. (…) Donald trump is in debt and it would be convenient to know who he owes money to, because the people have the right to know whether the president makes decisions in his own interest or in the interest of the American people, “said Kamala Harris.

The moderator asked Pence why the White House does not follow the biosecurity guidelines given by the authorities.

The question arose because during a meeting in the garden of the presidential residence several people were not wearing masks.

“The difference is that we trust the people of the United States and that they can discern the information that the authorities give them,” was part of the answer that Pence gave.

Kamala Harris starts talking about the coronavirus and said that the pandemic “has been the worst tragedy” in the country. Biden’s formula harshly attacked the Trump administration and said they covered up the severity of COVID-19.
