There are 10 research centers that are already underway with all the protocols to recruit at least 3,500 people each, and that will participate in the clinical trial of the Vaccine against covid-19 in its phase three carried out by the Janssen laboratory, of the Johnson & Johnson company, in Colombia.
“We will be advancing the first in the country and it will be a very interesting experimental process,” said President Iván Duque.
Meanwhile, the National Government expanded the purchase quota for the Covid-19 vaccine through the Covax mechanism to cover 20% of the Colombian population.
“We had initially set aside 10 percent access to vaccines. The decision we have made is to increase 10 to 20 percent of our population to access the vaccine once it is developed”, Explained the Minister of Health Fernando Ruiz.
With an investment of more than 200 million dollars are expected to acquire 10 million doses through the Covax mechanism, which is the multilateral purchase of 160 countries and that guarantees access to Colombia to the vaccine against Covid-19.
The Minister of Health also delivered a balance after completing a month of selective isolation with individual distancing responsible in an environment of economic reopening.

Also, Ruiz Gómez pointed out that the mortality rate from all causes has fallen frankly since July 30, until reaching the index that has been had in the last five years.
