President Iván Duque was denounced for the transit of foreign troops – Government – Politics

A new complaint against the President of the Republic, Iván Duque, arrived this Monday at the Indictment Commission, a cell in charge of investigating the head of state.

The judicial appeal, filed by 23 opposition congressmen, assures that the head of state violated the Constitution, by allowing the presence of foreign troops in the national territory, without the prior authorization of the Senate of the Republic.

The congressmen asked the Indictment Commission to investigate the conduct of the president since he would have violated his duty as a public servant to act in accordance with the Constitution and to disregard the judgment of July 1, 2020 of the Administrative Court of Cundinamarca, thus ignoring the division of powers .

Faced with this issue, the Minister of Defense, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, highlighted a few days ago that “President Iván Duque authorized activities of the SFAB Brigade in accordance with its constitutional powers, after complying with the decision of the Cundinamarca Court, to continue strengthening the capacities to “combat drug trafficking, which assassinates social leaders and finances massacres.”

For the head of the Defense portfolio, it is key to understand that it does not deal with the transit of foreign troops, which is why the authorization of Congress is not needed and for what he assures, he will not make any rectification.

In this regard, Jorge Enrique Robledo pointed out that “Duque is perfectly clear that nothing allows him to authorize the presence of US war troops in Colombia, but he has been obstinate with favoring foreign interests, putting regional and national peace at risk ”.

These are the congressmen who signed the new complaint:

Senators: Jorge Enrique Robledo Castillo, Iván Cepeda Castro, Antonio Sanguino, Alexander López, Sandra Ramírez, Victoria Sandino, Carlos Antonio Lozada, Pablo Catatumbo, Aída Avella, Jorge Eliecer Guevara, Alberto Castilla and Feliciano Valencia.

Representatives to the House: Jorge Alberto Gómez Gallego, Fabián Díaz Plata, Luis Alberto Albán, León Fredy Muñoz, Carlos Carreño Marín, María José Pizarro, Ángela María Robledo, Abel David Jaramillo, Katherine Miranda, Omar De Jesús Restrepo, and Jairo Cala Suárez .

This is one more of the complaints that Duque has against him, along with the one that indicates “corruption of the suffragette” and “influence peddling”, due to the statements of Aida Merlano in Venezuela, earlier this year. Likewise, he was denounced in March of this year for the issue of ‘Ñeñepolítica’.
