Jorge Mario Rengifo Campo, 33 years old, will go to trial for allegedly dragging citizen Armando Pérez Aponte with his truck about 200 meters.

The attack occurred in the middle of an argument registered in the Novalito neighborhood, north of Valledupar two years ago at dawn on December 26, 2018 and only until this weekend was the accused brought to trial.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Armado Pérez was talking with some friends when Jorge Rengifo arrived, with whom he had an argument.

“The verbal aggression turned into a physical aggression (…) Rengifo Campo threatens Pérez Aponte with death, who decides to leave the aforementioned place taking Carrera 9 to the north of the city, deciding to stop the car on Carrera 9 in front of DPA to informing his brother about what happened by telephone, he gets out of the vehicle and that is when Rengifo Campo suddenly appears and collides with Pérez Aponte’s humanity, ”reads the indictment of the case published by the newspaper El Pilón.

One of the victim’s companions got out of the car desperately to tell Rengifo that Pérez was trapped and wounded under his truck, however, the alleged assailant reversed and dragged him about two hundred meters.

Fortunately, Pérez was able to recover from the injuries caused to various parts of his body after the fact.

In March of last year, Jorge Mario Rengifo was captured and presented to preliminary hearings before the Fourth Municipal Criminal Court of Valledupar.

Since then he has been prosecuted for the crime of attempted aggravated murder, although he has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
