The opening of Playa Azul, in the district of La Boquilla, Cartagena, is a historic event for the city. In addition to being the first pilot to receive bathers during the covid-19 pandemic, it means a breakthrough in the organization of these public spaces.

Starting this Thursday, October 1, Playa Azul, diagonal to the La Américas hotel, will have 96 modules, each with an umbrella and up to six seats, so that tourists and locals enjoy a midday on the beach with due social distancing and biosecurity.
The inauguration of this pilot beach was in charge of the mayor of Cartagena himself, William Dau, who even took a sea bath.
Playa Azul has a food court, public restrooms, an emergency care post and a lifeguard booth.

Bathers may use the beach in two shifts. The first between 8 in the morning and 12 noon and the second between 2 in the afternoon and 5 in the afternoon. Reservations must be made online.

It is only possible to enter Playa Azul with a mask and after taking a temperature by officials of the Mayor’s Office of Cartagena.
María Claudia Peña, District advisor for the reopening of the city in the midst of the Pandemic, assured that with the opening of this beach, 100% of the productive and economic sectors are already working.
In addition, in the next few days three more beaches will be opened in the tourist sector of Bocagrande. The same is also expected in the island areas, all with controls.
There are 99 areas arranged for the rest of the bathers isolated from each other.

Camilo Jaramillo and Lina Baracaldo were the first tourists to enter the beach, located on the road to Barranquilla.
