The Government denied the senator’s complaint Iván Cepeda in the sense in which decreeing the state of internal commotion is being analyzed.
After hearing the complaint, which was made in the plenary session of the Senate, the Vice Minister of the Interior, Daniel Palacios, indicated that it is “Completely false”. The senator from the Polo Democrático denounced that the Government would be considering this option to limit or have greater regulation on the protest.
Faced with the assertions of Senator Iván Cepeda that at this moment the National Government is considering the internal commotion, we allow ourselves to inform public opinion that these assertions are completely false, are biased and are intended to deceive public opinion. We invite Senator Cepeda to do politics without lying
said Vice Minister Daniel Palacios.
What Senator Cepeda said
I tell the Government that we have information from a good source that the Palace of Nariño is studying decreeing the state of internal commotion, in order to take measures that could seriously affect judicial independence, limit and run over social protest and try to muzzle the political opposition. The question I ask the government is, is it considering this type of authoritarian solution to the events that have been occurring that show systematic violations of human rights in Colombia and authoritarian attitudes of the executive branch?
Senator Cepeda raised.
Faced with this complaint, the Government affirms that this option is not being considered, since it is working on the implementation of new protocols for demonstrations with the Office of the Prosecutor, the District and the Government of Cundinamarca.
In fact, the senator’s complaint was made public while a meeting was taking place in Casa de Nariño to define this protocol that must be sent to the Administrative Court of Cundinamarca.
