Motorola introduced Motorola Edge Plus as a new flagship phone that will finally be able to compete with the best on the market (such as the Galaxy S20 Plus, the iPhone 12 and the Galaxy Note 20) and not just another mid-range phone.
In recent years, Motorola has focused on the mid-range to try to deliver value, but had not released a phone with excellent specifications to showcase the best the company can do, and has disappointed many.
The Motorola Edge Plus becomes that hope for the company and fans to resurface and excel in the high-end market. Is the Motorola Edge Plus that cell phone we would like? We don’t know for now until we finish our review, but in the meantime we gather here the reasons to buy the Motorola Edge Plus instead of the Galaxy S20 Plus and vice versa.
Reasons to buy Motorola Edge Plus instead of Galaxy S20 Plus
Almost pure Android experience: The Android experience of Motorola cell phones has been one of the most accepted on the market and this makes the Motorola Edge Plus interface more interesting compared to Samsung’s personalized one.
Traditional headphone jack: Many of us still value our traditional hearing aids and the Motorola Edge Plus offers a traditional connector that allows us to enjoy them, without the need for a strange adapter.
256GB of storage: The Galaxy S20 Plus’s base storage is 128GB, which is half the storage Motorola offers on the Edge Plus.
Cameras: Similar to the Galaxy S20 Ultra, the Motorola Edge Plus has a 108 megapixel camera which generally translates into some benefits, something that the Galaxy S20 Plus does not have because it has a 12 megapixel main camera and the one with the largest number of megapixels is 64 In addition the Motorola Edge Plus has macro mode and offers 3X optical zoom, while the Galaxy S20 Plus offers only 3X hybrid zoom.
5,000mAh battery: While the Galaxy S20 Plus has a 4,500mAh battery, the Motorola Edge Plus has a 5,000mAh battery. Although it is not a huge difference, many of us will be pleased to get 500mAh which should help with better battery life.
Price: Without taking into account that the Galaxy S20 Plus is often on sale, that cell phone Samsung has a cost of US $ 1,199. This means that it costs $ 200 more than the Motorola Edge Plus and you get all the benefits mentioned above. In promotion, the Galaxy S20 Plus has cost just the same price of $ 999 from Motorola Edge Plus.
Reasons to buy S20 Plus and not Motorola Edge Plus
It has no water resistance: While the Galaxy S20 Plus has IP68-certified water resistance, the Motorola Edge Plus simply has the traditional splash resistance.
No microSD slot: Similarly, the Motorola Edge Plus does not allow for increased storage, something that the Galaxy S20 Plus does through a microSD slot.
Weight and thickness: In your hand, the Galaxy S20 Plus feels like a more comfortable cell phone because it is thinner and heavier. The Motorola Edge Plus is 8.6mm thick and weighs 203 grams, while the Galaxy S20 Plus is 7.8mm thick and weighs 186 grams.
Fast charge: The Motorola Edge Plus has 18-watt fast charge which, while good, lags behind the Galaxy S20 Plus’s 25-watt charge.
Cameras: The Galaxy S20 Plus has the ability to record 8K video if you are interested in that and generally Samsung has offered better quality in the photos that your cellphones can take.
Availability: The Galaxy S20 Plus can be purchased unlocked or through all kinds of operators in the United States in the world, while the Motorola Edge Plus can only be purchased (at least for now) at Verizon.
