After the proposal of the mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, to establish schedules for the rise of cyclists to the Verjón and thus better organize the traffic in the area, the governor of Cundinamarca, Nicólas García, criticized the District’s initiative.
The departmental president assured that “Cundinamarca, especially the municipalities of Choachí, Fomeque and Ubaque, we do not share Bogotá’s proposal to generate total closures for a number of hours in order to allow the exclusive passage of bi-users (…) we share the need to have alternatives that guarantee the safety of those who travel through that corridor by bicycle “.

For this reason, the Governor was emphatic in saying that, “also we have an obligation to protect small producers, to the farmers who travel daily at those times to transport products to Bogotá and bring their livelihoods to their homes, we need to work together and we will do so this week to allow us the safety of the bi-users and the safety of the Cundinamarca, especially the peasants who need to travel. “
It should be noted that according to the president of the capital, it will be proposed to establish schedules during the week and weekends, to avoid congestion, together with the vehicles that also move around the area. “We are going to propose to the Mayor of Choachí to establish hours in Bogotá from 4 am to 11 am, between Thursday and Sunday”he explained.
