In that letter, which also points to the jurist Juan José Salazar, Cadena’s partner, the Prosecutor’s Office says that the latter, allegedly, offered at least 48 million pesos to the former paramilitary Carlos Enrique Vélez, alias ‘Victor’, to change his testimony and favored former senator Álvaro Uribe, Caracol Radio reported.
Likewise, the accusing body, the radio adds, says that Cadena pressured former paramilitary Juan Guillermo Monsalve, who recently ratified the accusations against Uribe, offering him legal aid.
The Prosecutor’s Office also says that Cadena and Salazar have agreed to seek testimony against Senator Iván Cepeda, declared as a victim of the case of false witnesses, for which today Uribe is deprived of liberty.
However, the prosecutor in the case believes, contrary to what the Supreme Court of Justice said, that the former president did not know of the alleged bribes of which he accuses the lawyer.
There is still no date for the trial, but it is known that the third criminal court of knowledge of Bogotá will do so, according to the radio frequency.
The news is known just when an appeal that Cadena’s lawyer, Iván Cancino, imposed to revoke the insurance measure placed on his client is about to be resolved.
Regarding these accusations, Cadena has said that he did not offer money for the ex-paramilitaries to change their testimony in favor of Uribe but, in the case of Vélez, gave him money as a humanitarian aid.
Regarding the trial to which the ex-congressman’s ex-attorney must submit, Cancio said in El Tiempo that they received the news with “tranquility”, since it involves “procedural stages”; He assured the newspaper that they have everything to distort what Velez and Monsalve said.
