“She was chatting with Mr. Óscar Vásquez. Mr. Segundo Velandia came down, interrupted them wanting to get into the conversation. They say no, it seems that he is upset and proceeds to injure her. He also stabbed Óscar Vásquez, but he’s fine, “says the son.
Later, in dialogue with EL TIEMPO, it was confirmed that the woman had already been threatened by the man for four years. “We came to live in that house four years ago. The man lived on the second floor … She did not give importance to the threats, she did not report him. He had also threatened me,” says the young man.
Óscar Vásquez, a witness to the events, assured that, at the time of the attack, he had to shield himself with a chair to defend himself, remove the man’s weapon and prevent him from injuring the other children of the woman. “I don’t know what happened … They gave him fits of jealousy after drinking it. We were fine. But he locked us in, broke the keys to the gate and grabbed us with a knife,” Vásquez said.
“Mr. Segundo Velandia had intentions to hurt my younger brothers. Óscar Vásquez tried to protect them by taking the man out of the house,” noted the eldest son of the victim.
The aggressor was captured and the authorities have him in custody. For the family it is worrying not knowing anything and they ask that the man not be released.
Elizabeth was a merchant in the sector and with her work she supported four minor children.
