There are phrases that make a career in football. That in the classics it does not matter in which position in the table. That you always have to wait until the end to see the outcome, because many times they have been defined in the last minute. All that happened in El Campín, where Millonarios, the 18th team in the League, complicated the game for another, Santa Fe, who could even go to sleep as leader if he won.

But Millonarios, who on paper played a little better, could not hold an advantage that he had achieved with solvency and ended up giving away the tie, and to a great extent the possibility of qualifying for the next phase of the League, again for a defensive error.

On the court, the two teams played to counter each other rather than try to find the match. Similar schemes, two lines of four side by side and a common problem. On the contrary, imprecision was the law: the official statistics of Dimayor’s page say that Santa Fe only made 58 percent of passes in rival field, while Millonarios did a little, only a little better: 60.6. On the red side, Luis Manuel Seijas shows the inactivity he had; Fabián Sambueza, which was delayed to fix his continuity, and Jhon Velásquez was not fine. On the blue side, Cristian Arango had good and bad and was again in debt.

In addition to that, the game heated up at the beginning in a fortuitous action, after a bad return from Carlos Arboleda to Leandro Castellanos. The goalkeeper was getting complicated and Ricardo Márquez went looking for him. In the fight, he tripped and fell on the arm of Castellanos. The shock was more optical than real, but Andrés Pérez went looking ugly for Márquez.

The notebook shows that, at least in options, he was more Millionaires in the first stage: at 25, Márquez wanted to finish off the post of Castellanos’ left hand and the goalkeeper guessed his intention. Then, at 37, Andrés Román tried from afar and the goalkeeper saved well. And in the last play of the first half, again the goalkeeper responded to a cross shot by Cristian Arango. Santa Fe, nothing at all. In that first half it was not known in what condition Cristian Bonilla was, who debuted with the blue shirt.

Santa Fe vs. Millionaires

That small superiority of Millonarios was marked a little more when coach Alberto Gamero decided to send Santiago Montoya to the court, who reappeared after more than a year of absence, instead of Diego Godoy, who was again in debt. And in that way Millos began to get even closer.

Key play

Later, the advantage in the game was also translated on the scoreboard, in a goal that, VAR by means of, was full of mystery: a qualification by Felipe Banguero and a shot by Juan Carlos Pereira to finally beat Castellanos. The repetition showed that, first, Pereira is in the same line with the ball, and, second, a man from Santa Fe enabled him.

Curiously, the goal was scored by one of the players who had the hardest time adjusting to the scheme proposed by Gamero, who put Pereira to play for a band, when he feels more comfortable coming through the center.

Santa Fe did not react and, in addition, ended up staying with one less, with an incredible reaction from the most experienced player on the court, Andrés Pérez, who from early on was making merits for the second yellow but went for a direct red, at 28 the second stage.

But in the classic, whatever happens, whatever they are on the table, you always have to wait for the referee to whistle. Do you remember that we were talking about not knowing what state goalkeeper Bonilla was in? Well, in the only demand that he had not in the second half, throughout the game, he went wrong to cut a collection from the side, Jeison Palacios headed towards the center and Jorge Luis Ramos, who had entered the second stage for Fabián Sambueza, the got to the bottom of the arch. Nailed tie.

Half a phase is missing all against all and Millos has it uphill: he must make 23 points out of 30 to qualify. Santa Fe saved a point and a bad night and keeps dreaming.
