Deportivo Cali defeated Alianza Petrolera 2-0 this Sunday at the Palmaseca stadium, on a field that suffers from the harsh summer and hosted a weak match, for the tenth date of the 2020 Betplay League, a contest in which it partially placed fifth with 16 points.
The local was pressured by a rival who came out to drown him on his own ground, defending himself with a line of three in the middle. However, Cléider Alzate and Macnelly Torres did not look good and Cali handled the ball better, especially in the second half, after playing with ten men due to the expulsion of Deiber Caicedo.
Another positive factor is that he took the goal to zero and two goals were enough to celebrate a triumph that brings him back to the list of the first eight. On the other side, it was not the Alliance of other presentations, far from the associative game that had aroused praise throughout the country.
Regarding the creation of the game of his last two outings, in the initial part the cast ‘sugar’ came more or less. Erratic in the delivery and allowed the visitor to take him away from the Ricardo Jerez area. In that period the defenses were above the attacks, in two thirds neither of them approached with an imminent goal option and the development of the commitment became tedious.
Only at 36 Vásquez won the last line, put the center and Deiber Caicedo managed to lift the ball, but Jerez conjured the action.
Almost immediately, in a split ball Caicedo elbowed Freddy Flórez, received a yellow and referee Jorge Tabares repented and showed him the red, leaving his team with ten men. In fact, the coach Alfredo Arias had complained about the frequent expulsions from the squad.
Ido Caicedo, it was Jhon Vásquez who threw himself to the left to try to associate with Ángelo Rodríguez, but this time the shot from outside the area was not used to try to pierce the Alliance fence. There were also no transitions to unbalance, although in a disorderly way it was the one that was trying on the attack front.
Rodríguez remained in front of Jerez after taking the aurinegra defense, but again he missed in the last shot, when the first half expired.
Despite such low production, at 48 came the goal for the green-and-white advantage, after Agustín Palavecino lifted a corner kick from the left to the heart of the area, headed Jhon Vásquez over Flórez and nailed the ball over the left post for 1-0.
Starting the second half, Cristian Palomeque tried with his left foot and González had to stretch to send the ball to the corner kick.
Alianza had possession for lapses, but not enough to take advantage of the extra man who left Caicedo’s expulsion, also because Cali also took provisions and adjusted the containment in the midfield.
Better settled on the court, at 28 Angulo put a creeping pass into the area, went through several legs and Andrés Balanta made it 2-0 at the far post.
Palavecino, who on this occasion was not the compass of the green-and-white box, was injured and gave way to José Enamorado.
On the eleventh date of the League, Cali will visit Jaguares on Saturday, October 4 (4:00 pm) and Alianza Petrolera will host Once Caldas on Friday, October 2 (4:00 pm).
