The Colombian Stock Exchange reported that the first green bond issuance of Banco de Bogotá, for 300,000 million pesos, was placed in its entirety, and even received a higher demand more than three times, having offers for 913,271 million pesos. pesos.

In the first three-year subseries, 114,000 million pesos were placed at a nominal rate of 1.14% per month in arrears, while in the second, five years, 186,000 million pesos were placed, at 4.75% annual cash.
According to the entity, this issue was carried out reaffirming its commitment to caring for the environment, since it was the first green bond issue of the financial sector in this year 2020 in the country.
“With this placement of green bonds we want to contribute to the mitigation of climate change and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We are very proud of the results obtained in the issuance, where the demand for almost $ 1bn pesos more than tripled the value offered; the investors’ response confirms the importance of mitigating climate change and demonstrates their support for Banco de Bogotá in this mission ”, says Julio Rojas Sarmiento, Executive Vice President of Banco de Bogotá.
The entity expects to use the resources to finance renewable energy projects, sustainable transport and infrastructure, water treatment, energy efficiency projects, land use, waste management and green construction.
Banco de Bogotá indicated that the strategy carried out by Banco de Bogotá to contribute to the mitigation of climate change does not only consist of financing green projects, but also a set of its own initiatives or with direct participation.
Among them are sustainable products such as the Green Revenue, which has earned the entity international recognition such as the Latin America Green award, in the Sustainable Finance category; eco-efficiency initiatives, among which we can mention: the installation of solar panels for energy self-sufficiency; the works for the renovation of bank branches with Leed certification; a comprehensive sustainable mobility plan for bank employees and a sustainable parking lot for free charging of electric vehicles for free use by citizens in Bogotá.
This allows to encourage alternative means of transportation and that received the Gold Seal from the Secretary of Mobility of the District.
Likewise, another strategy of the entity is the ecological restoration programs such as the reforestation of the Amazon, the recovery of the Bogotá River and the conservation of native species in the Banco de Bogotá Forest, where the entity has almost 30 thousand trees planted in the El Encenillo biological reserve.
