The Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, the Government of Cundinamarca and the Mayor’s Office of Cota, signed this Tuesday an agreement that will make regional connectivity a reality between the capital of the country and the municipality of Cota.
“It is extraordinary news, which citizens have waited for years, and it is to have this new road that meets environmental standards, that allows us to better connect in half an hour, leaving behind those endless roadblocks that they must suffer”, said the mayor, Claudia López.

This road is a priority work that will reduce congestion in this area of the region and save time in the travel of citizens.
“We have a lot of teamwork and we will continue to make this work a reality that will help the development and progress of the region”, assured the governor of Cundinamarca, Nicolás García Bustos.
The project will directly benefit 1,317,000 inhabitants of the town of Suba and 25,000 inhabitants of Cota.

This agreement includes the management of the studies and the designs for the construction of the road and bridges that will connect Bogotá with the municipality of Cota.
“Cota dresses up, finally a dream begins to come true, we are attending to this deeply felt and necessary situation in our sector. We are going to have more development and a better quality of life in our sector and municipality, behind will be those huge roadblocks that everyone has to suffer “, said the mayor of Cota, Néstor Orlando Guitarrero.
It’s about the bridge over the Bogotá river and the bridge over the departmental road corridor, called “variant Cota – Chía”.

This road project will preserve the Bogotá river and its ecosystems as part of the environmental policy of the city and the region.
Said agreement will be in force until December 31, 2023 and will allow to add technical, administrative and legal efforts, to build this important road project.

Each territorial entity will be responsible for managing the resources in its jurisdiction and thus harmonize with the entire project. The estimates of this agreement is that the studies and designs are ready in 2022.
On the Bogotá side, the Urban Development Institute (IDU) has resources from the District Development Plan 2020 – 2024 for 176,000 million pesos.
These resources will be invested in the execution of Avenida Cota, from Avenida San José (AC 170) to the limit of the Capital District (Río Bogotá), in a length of 5.72 kilometers.
