Carreño Carreño, captured after committing the crime in the center of Barranquilla, was recorded by a security camera when he went to look for Katiuska Rangel, his ex-partner, at a cell phone store where she worked, El Heraldo said.
In that recording, broadcast by various media, it is seen when the man struggles with Rangel for several minutes, then throws her to the ground and stabs her, leaving her with serious injuries for which she later died at the Barranquilla General Hospital.

After the attack, Carreño Carreño wanted to flee but witnesses to the crime caught him and tried to lynch him; later, the man was handed over to the authorities, as can be seen in the following images.

One of the people he saw when the man injured his partner told CM & that Carreño Carreño told him not to get involved, that he [el testigo] I did not know what happened-
According to the victim’s mother, quoted by El Heraldo, Rangel had separated from Carreño Carreño (father of one of her children) a few days before the femicide; but he insisted that they return. Even, said the mother, the man threatened the victim with death.
Despite the fact that the accused claimed to be innocent of aggravated femicide, according to CM &, a judge sent him to the El Bosque prison in Barranquilla.
