Official balance: how the day of protest closes in the country

The director of the Police, Óscar Atehortúa, gave a positive balance during the marches that took place this September 21 in different cities of the national territory.

The general stated that at this time they are developing 46 activities in different cities that bring together about 5,600 people.

“Throughout the day, 149 activities had been planned to be carried out in the national territory, so far 49 of them have materialized,” added the general.

On the other hand, Atehortúa reported other incidents that required the presence of the Police.

“It was necessary the intervention of Esmad in Caracas with 26 as some vandals attacked a Transmilenio bus and affected the integrity of one of its passengers a forceful element,” he added.

He also reported the looting to the Caja Social bank in Carrera 8 with Calle 12, downtown Bogotá.

In Bogotá, due to different types of excesses, five people were captured.

Closure of Transmilenio due to demonstrations

The mass transportation system closed its operation at 8 pm due to the protests presented during the day in order to protect the integrity of its collaborators and users. Hundreds of people had to walk home.

Development of other marches in the country

In Pasto, accompaniment by Esmad was necessary since a group of people attacked the CAI of San Agustín and several properties in the center of the city. The authorities arrested four people for these events.

In Medellín, subjects with improvised explosive devices attacked the facilities of the Metropolitan Valley of Aburrá. One person was arrested.

For his part, the Minister of Defense, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, gave a piece of reassurance and assured that the National Police only had to intervene in specific and necessary cases.
