Diego Amaral, who is part of the family that owns the galleon, detailed to The universal that the emergency originated from a mechanical failure in the motor pump.

“Like any artisanal and wooden boat, water leaks, but the motor pump had a failure and did not start so the water did not come out. The entry of the water accelerated when it reached the level of the motor pump’s outlets and exceeded the waterline, ”explained Amaral.

He added that at the time of the sinking the Buccaneer was only with the citizen.

Amaral indicated that they now cover the holes and the outlets of the motor pump, once this is achieved the motor pumps will be turned on to finish raising the ship.
