The Foundation for Press Freedom (FLIP) described as disproportionate the decision of Judge 57 Civil Municipal that ordered the arrest of journalist Gonzalo Guillén for contempt.
On December 14, 2019, on Twitter, Guillén assured that Carlos Barros and another person, apparently, were working with the Envigado Office, and that Barros would be the front man for the drug trafficker Marcos Figueroa, alias ‘Marquitos’.

And this Wednesday, in the same social network, the journalist published the rectification: “Complying with Ruling of the 44th Civil Court of the Bogotá Circuit, I rectify: The opinion that I issued of Carlos Barros Corrales is not truthful because the names of narco and front man do not have based on a judicial decision “.
However, Judge 57 ordered Guillén’s arrest. For FLIP, said judicial decision did not take into account that the journalist already published the rectification.
“Although in the protection action he had been ordered to rectify in national media, this order is disproportionate if one takes into account that the publicationsnions made by the journalist were made only on Twitter “, says the Foundation.

According to Guillén, what he did was post an opinion column on his Twitter account.
“I won the first guardianship of people from La Guajira and a civil court sentenced me in the second to rectify a trill by publishing an opinion column (…) that have nothing to do with it. In addition, I was sentenced to three days of arrest and a fine of about $ 10 million, “he added on Twitter
FLIP considered that with these judicial decisions a message is being sent adverse on the knowledge and application of the standards of protection to freedom of the press in the administration of justice.
Complying with Ruling of the 44th Civil Court of the Bogotá Circuit, I rectify: The opinion that I issued of Carlos Barros Corrales is not true because the appellations of narco and figurehead have no basis in a judicial decision.
