The rotten smell that a house gave off in the La Loma sector, on the island opposite the old River Administration, revealed a terrible scene: two corpses in a state of decomposition inside the house built with boards and plastic sheeting.
The discovery occurred on the morning of this Thursday at Carrera 50 with Calle 6 in the aforementioned sector, where the Sijín de la Policia arrived to make the difficult inspection of the corpses that were consumed by larvae.
The bodies correspond to two dark men, with a thin build and, as it was known, they were found dead in separate rooms, one in the living room and one in the bedroom, but in similar conditions. They were semi-naked and, although they showed signs of violence, they did not have stab or firearm wounds that could be identified with the naked eye.
The identity of the victims was not fully established, as the faces were unrecognizable; However, the relatives of the brothers Roni Loreto and Robert Rúa Loreto arrived at the place of the double crime, who lived rented in the humble home.
Regarding them, their relatives assured that they had arrived in Barranquilla from Venezuela, one a year ago and another about two years ago, and that they worked in the center selling chzos and fried foods.
The terrible find
Residents of the sector assured this media that the brothers had arrived in La Loma six months ago. The last time they saw them was on Sunday, when, according to the neighbors, the men were trying to find a pot to prepare a sancocho.
According to the man who lives in the house next to that of the Rúa Loreto brothers – who preferred to reserve his identity -, from Tuesday the strong odors that came out of the house began to be felt, but it was completely closed, so they couldn’t see if something had happened.
However, according to the man told this medium, on Thursday morning the rotten smell became unbearable and they were concerned that the children who live in the humble neighborhood would be affected. Furthermore, the man said, from a hole between the wall and the ceiling of the house, “Many flies came out.”
Then, a couple of neighbors, looked at around 7:30 in the morning on Thursday through the roof and came across the unpleasant scene of one of the inhabitants of the house lying on the ground and covered in larvae.
The inhabitants of La Loma, sector 1, immediately called the Police, who entered the place to find both men dead. It was even known that one of the corpses had lost the skin in the area of the face.
Neighbors assured that, in addition, the dogs that accompanied the brothers in life had remained with the bodies for several days.
Revenge?
General Ricardo Alarcón, commander of the Barranquilla Metropolitan Police, assured that the first hypotheses about double homicide are oriented to “personal situations, revenge or something like that ”, but that it is necessary to wait for the autopsy protocols and for“ Legal Medicine to establish the complete injuries ”.
In addition, he assured that within the line of investigation they include the family relationships of the victims; And it is no wonder, since General Alarcón confirmed that the victims are related to the taxi driver who ran over a 23-year-old woman and his two-year-old son in the San Roque neighborhood of Barranquilla on July 21.
The commander of the Mebar assured that the murdered are the children of the driver Rubén Darío Rúa Pérez, 56 years old, who was captured after the accident occurred at Calle 35 and Carrera 33, which left a mother and son seriously injured.
In this sense, the general revealed that at the scene of the double homicide “a note was found that is part of the material that will serve to guide the investigation.” It is a very short note in which they threaten the father of the victims saying that “The one who follows is him.”
It should be remembered that, due to the accident, Rúa Pérez was charged with the crime of “attempted murder in a culpable manner”, taking into account that vital organs of the victims were compromised.
At the time, despite the fact that the Prosecutor’s Office requested preventive detention for the taxi driver, Rúa Pérez was released while the investigations progressed and the judicial process for the serious accident. One of the judge’s arguments was that the man had no judicial record.
Neighbors in the La Loma sector, where the double homicide occurred, assured that the father of the Rúa Loreto brothers had been living with them for some time, but that a “fight” caused the father to move.
