The president was at the CAI of Castilla and Ferias and visited the Kennedy Police stations and the Bogotá metropolitan police station.

After 10 p.m., Duque decided to go from the Casa de Nariño to the affected police units, not only to greet the members of the institution, but to see first-hand the damage caused.

In each of those sites, the President expressed his solidarity with the affected policemen and he also took the opportunity to listen to the concerns that the uniformed men had.

The president also reminded them of the support of his Government and the country to the members of the institution who fulfill their duty wearing an institution jacket. He also indicated that the Government will keep in operation the CAIs that were destroyed or affected by the vandals.

Defense Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo acknowledged on Tuesday night in a session of Congress that the death of Javier Ordóñez in Bogotá, which sparked a wave of protests, is the responsibility of the police who tried to arrest him a week ago.

“Some policemen killed a Colombian citizen, disgraced the uniform, violated the rules of ethical behavior, ignored the entire training effort of the institution,” said the head of the Defense portfolio.

The protests that rejected the death of the lawyer Ordóñez generated actions that are the subject of investigation and that left 14 dead, more than 100 injured, at least 60 CAI burned, 9 buses incinerated and several commercial establishments looted, including several entities banking.
