THE JOURNEY
The Alps come to the Tour in this sixteenth stage that runs over 164 kilometers between La Tour-du-Pin and the arrival at Villard-de-Lans. The runners will ascend the Côte de Virieu almost from the start (4th, 2.3 km. To 6.8) before tackling foul terrain on the way to the Saint-Joseph-de-Rivière intermediate sprint, after which the road will spike up before starting the climb to Col de Porte, second category with its 7.4 kilometers at 6.8%. After a long and rapid descent, the cyclists will have 7 flat kilometers before climbing the Côte de Revel (2nd, 6 kilometers at 8%). After their descent, the cyclists will ride on a somewhat rough and then more favorable terrain before approaching Seyssins , where the climb to Montée de Saint-Nizier-du-Mucherotte begins, first class with its 11.1 kilometers at 6.5%. From here they will have several favorable kilometers but without major descents before reaching Villard-de-Lans to ascend to Côte 2000, third category with its 2.2 kilometers at 6.5%.
