The false headline that caused indignation in Colombia and that was not true at all.
The damage to CAIs who were vandalized have not yet been accurately calculated.
However, a fake headline it spread like wildfire on social networks: “only in CAI Villa Luz the damages amount to 1600 million pesos.”
This headline caused a harsh response from the public, who could not believe the value.
The phrase, which is registered as a quote from the Semana Magazine and said by General Gustavo Moreno, is false.
Neither the Semana Magazine nor the commander in charge have said this phrase.
Many speculations began to run on social networks about the costs of the damage.
“Alfonso Rico, Semana’s multimedia editor, told us that the image is false and that the Magazine has not published anything related to the subject,” commented La Silla Vacía.
Colonel Juan Carlos Castellanos, chief of communications for the Police, also pointed out that it is a false image and that no personnel from the institution have given these statements.
Thus, the damage to the CAIs will be costly, but it is false that the colonel indicated that one only cost 1600 million.
