Daniel Coronell commented on his Twitter that situation, which occurred in the reconciliation event this Sunday, and pointed out that if Mayor Claudia López had something to do with it, she should “apologize”.

For the journalist (an opponent of the Government), that the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá “highlighted” the absence of President Duque, who said that he had other commitments on the agenda, stained commemoration that was done to the people who died in the middle of the demonstrations.

“Mark an empty chair to underline the absence of President Iván Duque it is a dishonest act that defiles the purpose of a forgiveness ceremony. If that happened by order of Mayor Claudia López, she must acknowledge it and ask for forgiveness, ”Coronell wrote.

The columnist said, in response to several followers, that although the “absence of the National Government is true”, it was not necessary “to fabricate a scene to prove it.”

And it is that according to Miguel Ceballos, peace commissioner who attended the event on behalf of Duque, the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá knew that the president “could not attend,” and even so they put a chair and marked it with the name of the head of State.

For Ceballos this meant an “assault” on his good faith, since he considers that the purpose of the city’s administration was send a message of inattention from the president.

And it is that the absence of Duque in the event caused great controversy, since the relatives of the victims demanded his presence.

The ceremony was intended to commemorate the memory of the young people who died in the middle of the riots in Bogotá, in which the demonstrations that were called after the death of Javier Ordóñez, apparently a victim of police abuse, ended.
