Last Thursday A video in which a father reprimands his daughter with straps went viral for apparently participating in protests against police abuse that were taking place in Armenia at that time.

The images were disseminated in various media, which is why RCN News sought out the protagonists of the video to talk about this particular event.

Norbeli Restrepo is the father of the family who appears in the images and he explains that that day he rebuked the young woman “for being disobedient.”

The man relates that minutes before he had called his daughter to order her not to go through the place where the protests were taking place and when he was informed of the presence of his daughter at the place, he made the decision to reprimand her.

The woman who stars in the events is Karime Restrepo, a 19-year-old girl who assures that she was in that place, despite her father’s warning, because of the recommendation they made her in a restaurant where she was accompanied by other people.

“I was eating and we received the recommendation from the place where we were eating that we go down to 14 which was safer. We think, if there is a CAI it is safer“, assured the young woman.

Some reactions on social networks about this fact indicate that having hit the young woman with a strap is a case of domestic abuse. To these remarks the father of the family assures that at the time of reprimanding her he had not thought that, but affirms that in conditions in which “a boy no longer wants to pay attention, it is necessary to intervene”.

For her, although her father has the right to reprimand her, it would have been better to have heard what the situation was at that time. “I understand that it was a moment where everything was very explosive because the setting was not the best,” concluded Karime.
