Explosion of two vehicles in Maicao leaves five people injured

Two tanker trucks, loaded with fuel, which were in the Villa Naty neighborhood, located on the old road that leads from Maicao to Uribia in La Guajira, caused a loud explosion.

The emergency appeared on the afternoon of this Saturday, apparently, while some people manipulated the fuel that was inside the vehicles to repackage it.

Five people who were in the place were grevely second and third degree burn wounds. They were transferred to the San José hospital located in Maicao.

The Fire Department controlled the fire that generated panic among the inhabitants of the area, while the Police and local authorities were present at the scene to find out the reasons why the incident occurred.

In addition to the people affected, some nearby homes and nearby vegetation were reportedly damaged by the flames.
