On the night of this Friday, the mayor of Tarazá (Antioquia), Miguel Ángel Gómez, died of covid-19.
The president had been sent to Medellín since last September 5 due to complications derived from the virus and according to the medical report of Hospital La María: “Gómez died as a consequence of a derived multi-system organic failure.”

“Today a friend, a father, a mentor, a friend, a leader has left us, in whom we Taraceños put our trust to help us improve our quality of life; who taught us that life is always assumed with courage, with heroism, with peace “, said Deivinson Manuel Montero, mayor in charge of this municipality located in the Lower Cauca of Antioquia.
The governor in charge of Antioquia, Luis Fernando Suárez, also regretted the death of the Mayor.

On Thursday night, officials and citizens of that municipality had held a candlelight in the main park, asking for the speedy recovery of its mayor.

Gómez García was from the Colombian Liberal Party and obtained a total of 4,004 votes to become the president of Tarazá.
So far, it has not been confirmed when and where the funeral will be.
