Avianca insists that a millionaire loan benefits the country

Through a statement, Avianca Holdings maintains that the loan that the national government had granted it, but had not yet been disbursed, is a fundamental part of the financing plan to sustain the airline’s operations.

He stated that “he will provide information to the Colombian Court in the next few days that, together with the response of the National Government, will show that Colombia’s participation in the Company’s DIP financing is a beneficial transaction for the country.”

Avianca reiterates that the loan has been structured by providing the government with important backing guarantees, also giving it payment priority over other creditors. This response comes after the administrative court of Cundinamarca ordered the suspension of said loan, requiring more information on its conditions and terms.

For their part, the airline’s workers assured, also in a statement, that the company employs 14,000 Colombians and that its operation generates around 650 million dollars in revenue.
