On the morning of this Friday, the Minister of Defense, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, assured that “lThe National Police apologizes for any violation of the law or ignorance of the regulations incurred by any of the members of the institution“.
Trujillo reiterated his rejection and pain over the events surrounding the death of Javier Ordóñez in the middle of a police procedure last Wednesday – cataloged as police brutality – in the vicinity of the Villa Luz neighborhood. Ordóñez was subjected to several ‘taser’ shots and, apparently, a beating when he was transferred to the CAI.
In the same way, it confirmed that within the internal investigation carried out by the Police, it was decided an indictment of charges against the uniformed officers involved for abuse of authority and homicide.
Trujillo stated that “the suspension of their charges was notified in order to proceed to remove them from the institution so that the evidence is not manipulated and the information is not obstructed.”
Said The investigations will advance against another five policemen – who were suspended– to establish whether they incurred a failure by omission in their performance.

Finally, he pointed out that the institution is committed to ensuring that this case does not go unpunished, and that for this they have all the collaboration within the policy of zero acceptance of the facts outside the law.
