The General Inspection of the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office individually designated elite groups to investigate the death of lawyer Javier Ordóñez.
On the side of the Prosecutor’s Office, a group of investigators from the CTI was appointed to carry out urgent actions, such as gathering evidence, statements and obtaining the opinion of Legal Medicine, in order to prosecute the uniformed men linked to the case.

For his part, General William René Salamanca, inspector of the institution, delegated a group of 10 officers to carry out the internal investigation, led by a major and a captain.

EL TIEMPO established that although the Prosecutor’s Office retained custody of the taser, the Police have already taken the testimonies of the patrolmen involved in the case.
Also, It has already recovered the radio communications held minutes before the operation and the video from the CAI camera in Villa Luz and neighboring buildings. Testimony was also taken from the commander of the Engativá station to establish possible responsibilities in the command line.

“The curriculum vitae of those involved – who had been in the institution for 5 and 6 years – are also evaluated to see if they were trained to use the taser. The case is of the highest priority, ”said a source from the institution.
The information will pass into the hands of the Attorney General’s Office, which took over the case by power of attorney.
Experts indicated that the uniformed men could be prosecuted for pre-intentional homicide, since in a first examination there would be no evidence that they had the intention of causing the lawyer’s death. If it is found that there was an intention to kill him, they would answer for aggravated homicide.

The Office of the Prosecutor advances in the construction of the timeline of the events. It is essential to have documented what happened on public roads before, during and after the procedure. CTI experts carried out an inspection at the CAI of Villa Luz.
Official sources said that they are trying to establish how long the victim was in the CAI, who was there and what treatment was given to the man, who was already handcuffed.

Regarding the arrest of a person who was at the site, the Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that his freedom was determined by not finding enough evidence to prosecute him for violence against a public servant.
