This Wednesday there was another Dimayor meeting in which it was finally decided how the League will be at the end of this 2020, which has been paused since March of this year due to covid-19.
The clubs finally changed what was chosen in past assemblies and defined that the finals will be playoffs and not home runs. In addition to this, the dates of the matches, as well as the finals, are confirmed.
The defined format:
Phase i: All Against All (September 19 – November 15)
• Continue with the championship and the respective points both in reclassification and in the standings, until date 20.
• 12 pending dates to dispute.
• 120 pending matches
• Upon completion of the 20 dates, the top eight (8) clubs in the standings will advance to Phase II of the championship.
So far the points made and the eight classifieds remain. Football will resume from the ninth day from this September 19 and will end on November 15, the date on which the qualifiers will be known.
Phase II: Quarterfinals (November 22 – November 29)
• 2 dates
• 8 games
• Round trip matches
• Keys by lottery
• The first 4 clubs in the standings will be local in the second leg.
• The winner of each key will advance to Phase III
Here comes the big change, because there will no longer be home runs, but there will be playoffs with group leaders with the top four in the table. The games are roundtrip, in the stadiums of each club.
Phase III: Semifinal (December 6 – December 13)
• 2 dates
• 4 games
• Round-trip matches
• The winner of each key will advance to Phase IV
• The 2 clubs with the highest score added in Phase I and the quarterfinals, close as local.
Phase IV: Final (December 20 – December 27)
• 2 dates
• 2 games
• Round-trip matches
• The club with the highest score adding up in Phase I, quarter-finals and semifinals, closes as home
• The winner of this series will be the 2020 BetPlay League champion DIMAYOR
Defined the dates of the finals of the tournament. They will be roundtrip matches and the stadiums of each club are maintained to be in local condition.
The League of the eliminated:
Phase I: Home Run Liguilla (November 25 – December 2 and 9)
• The 12 clubs that did not qualify for the quarterfinals will be divided into 3 home runs.
• First leg matches will be played (Single Match)
• 3 dates in total
• 18 matches in total
• Two clubs from each home run that are best placed in the standings, will have the right to play two games at home.
• The first of each home run and the best second of all home runs advance to the next phase.
Phase ii: Liguilla Semifinal (December 16)
• Single match
• 2 matches in total
• Keys predetermined by the administration (1A vs 1B) (1C vs Best second)
• The two clubs with the highest points added between Phase I of the 2020 BetPlay DIMAYOR League and the home runs of the league, will play at home.
Phase III: Liguilla Final (December 23)
• Single match
• A date
• The club with the highest score added between Phase I of the 2020 BetPlay DIMAYOR League, league home runs and league semifinals, will play home
Phase IV: Repechage (December 30)
• The winning club of the Liguilla will play against the club that, according to the reclassification table, corresponds to Colombia N ° 4 for the Conmebol Sudamericana 2021.
• Single match
• The club that for its place in the reclassification table is Colombia N ° 4 for Conmebol Sudamericana 2021 will be local.
Classification to international tournaments 2021:
Conmebol Libertadores 2021
• Colombia N ° 1: BetPlay League Champion DIMAYOR 2020.
• Colombia N ° 2: Runner-up in Liga BetPlay DIMAYOR 2020.
• Colombia N ° 3: Club with the best position in the reclassification table in the 2020 BetPlay League that is neither champion nor runner-up.
• Colombia N ° 4: Second club with the best position in the reclassification table in the 2020 BetPlay League DIMAYOR that is neither champion nor runner-up.
Conmebol South American 2021
• Colombia N ° 1: Third club with the best position in the reclassification table of Liga BetPlay DIMAYOR 2020 and that do not have a place in Conmebol Libertadores.
• Colombia N ° 2: Fourth club with the best position in the reclassification table of Liga BetPlay DIMAYOR 2020 and that do not have a place at Conmebol Libertadores.
• Colombia N ° 3: Fifth club with the best position in the reclassification table of Liga BetPlay DIMAYOR 2020 and that do not have a place at Conmebol Libertadores.
• Colombia N ° 4: BetPlay League DIMAYOR 2020 playoff winner.
Considerations:
7 substitute players.
• 5 substitutions according to IFAB guidelines.
• 4 foreign players on the roster, of which 3 may be on the field of play.
• It is the same fixture as Phase I of the BetPlay League DIMAYOR I-2020
• 30 players maximum.
• The points obtained in the BetPlay DIMAYOR 2020 League will not be added to the reclassification and relegation table.
