Attorney’s Office asks insurer for report on Hidroituango project

On Monday, a study on the construction of Hidroituango was revealed that speaks of alleged failures that generated the collapse of the tunnel two years ago and RCN News learned of the document in which the Attorney General’s Office requests a detailed report from the insurer Mapfre with the proper supports of the project’s risk policies, as well as the payments of whether or not there were claims for the events.

On the record 25 officials and former officials are linked through a disciplinary investigation among which are the former mayors of Medellín Federico Gutiérrez and Aníbal Gaviria and the former governors Sergio Fajardo and Luis Pérez Gutiérrez for alleged irregularities in their role in the course of the project.

During the next weeks the tests will be practiced in the corresponding process.

Meanwhile, The Comptroller’s Office has 34 alleged fiscal responsibility for an amount of more than 4 billion pesos. Among those called to respond are former governors Aníbal Gaviria, Luis Alfredo Ramos, Sergio Fajardo and former mayor Alonso Salazar. In addition, former EPM managers Jorge Londoño and Juan Esteban Calle.

Fallas in Hidroituango, according to international report

The international report further concludes that there were unsolved problems, a situation that resulted in collapse. He emphasizes that the concrete linings were not as robust as the work required. Some excavations were filled in as required by the interior of the mountain and the parties involved did not assume responsibility to take the corrections in time.
