The death of political leader Aurelio Iragorri Hormaza came after receiving a diagnosis of pneumonia aggravated by covid-19 11 days ago.
Married to Diana Valencia López, daughter of the former president of Colombia Guillermo León Valencia and Susana López Navia. Iragorri Hormaza’s death occurred at the age of 83 in a clinic in Bogotá, after having been fighting for several days against the virus.

The House of Representatives issued a motion of mourning for the death of the former senator and solidarity with his relatives.

Iragorri Hormaza, a civil engineer by profession, was elected on multiple occasions to the Colombian Senate, of which he was a member for 28 years, until July 20, 2014.
