They canceled the last day of the ‘agüelulos’ pilot that was going to take place this Sunday, in Cali, to reactivate the economy of night establishments.

Tatiana Zambrano, Undersecretary of Economic Development of the Mayor’s Office, confirmed the decision.

The ‘agüelulos’ pilots started this Thursday, September 3 and were expected to finish this Sunday. The sessions took place in the Bulevar del Río and the Parque del Barrio Alameda.

“Today (Sunday) is a day of clearing because the wear and tear of these three days has been very strong. Both the Mayor’s Office and the businessmen worked very hard. It was a fairly large institutional deployment,” he explained.

The determination, he said, was made in common agreement with the bars that were part of the activity, which were not allowed to sell intoxicating beverages.

Images of crowded people without masks circulated on social networks on the Bulevar del Río. However, these citizens were not within the area demarcated by the Municipality for the pilot.

On the other hand, Zambrano said that this week they will be evaluating “methodologies so that by the time we get the authorization for the pilot with the sale of liquor, we are much more prepared.

Despite the cancellation of the last day, he maintained that the balance “is very positive.”

With the completion of these pilots, the Mayor’s Office hopes that the Government will authorize the reactivation of the night establishments sector in compliance with the biosecurity protocols recommended so far.

Although the bars were unable to sell liquor, the ‘agüelulos’ pilots did not leave any losses, according to Zambrano.

“A balance was achieved: no loss, no gain. The idea was to show the country what this new way of having fun was going to be like, the strategy that paves the way for the reopening of this sector,” he concluded.
