The mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, was the victim of a homophobic attack by a man this Saturday.
The event happened in the Parque de los Hippies, when López was talking about the implementation of the bike path through Carrera Séptima.
There, according to a video widely disseminated on social networks, the subject in question rebuked the openly homosexual president.
“I rebuke her, in the name of Jesus Christ I rebuke you. If you want to become homosexual, do it yourself, but don’t teach that to our children. We do not agree with your teachings, ”he said.
The homophobic attack has been rejected from different sectors.
“It is incredible that an attack like this is happening in our city today. We have to continue working to completely eradicate hatred and discrimination in Bogotá,” reflected Carlos Fernando Galán, councilor for the country’s capital.

Gabriela Tafur, lawyer and former Miss Colombia, for her part, stated: “Plenary 2020 and they continue to think that sexual orientation sticks. All my solidarity with the Mayor and with all the people who deal daily with this incessant discrimination.”
After the insults, the man withdrew from the place where the mayor was.
Meanwhile, Camilo Romero, former governor of Nariño, said that “she is an innate leader, the opponents know that they are the leaderships with which we will transform the country. My solidarity and I always hug her!”
While Congresswoman Angélica Lozano, Claudia López’s partner, pledged to fight for the rights of the LGBTIQ + community. “We will fight until #LaIgualdadSeaCostumbreBandera rainbow #LaIgualdadEsImparable,” he commented on Twitter.
“I am grateful from the bottom of my heart for so many expressions of solidarity and affection. Equality and respect exalt us all,” said the mayor of Bogotá.
