The Archdiocese of Bogotá suspended Father Rafael Rojas from the exercise of priestly ministry after the complaint of two sisters, who pointed out that he had abused them for nearly seven years.
“The last act of sexual violence on the part of the detainee would have been committed on August 20, when the man located the residence of one of the victims to allegedly try to abuse one of them again,” revealed the section director of prosecutors in Bogotá , José Manuel Martínez.
He added that “a prosecutor from the sex crimes unit of the Bogotá section showed how the person implicated would be responsible for a series of sex crimes against two sisters who collaborated with him on weekends with the care of the rectory ”.
“The evidence collected showed how between 2012 and 2018 he would have carried out different acts against the sexual integrity of the two young women,” he added.
One of the young women even said that his sister “suffered an abortion of the. She was abused from a very young age, from the age of 13, 14, since Father Rafael started working in the San Luis neighborhood, via La Calera ”.
Meanwhile, the Archdiocese of Bogotá reported that it had launched a preliminary investigation against Father Rojas, who was suspended from the exercise of priestly ministry.
In the same statement, he reiterated his policy of good treatment of people, his zero tolerance against all types of abuse and reiterated all the willingness to collaborate in the case.
