After 30 years of planning and eleven of construction, the Line Tunnel is now enabled. At 5:00 pm on Friday, September 4, the first drivers began to pass through this imposing work in the Central Mountain Range, considered the most representative of engineering in the country.
The first Colombian to pay the toll and go through the tunnel was Fernando Jaramillo. Of all those who crossed, none longed and sought this moment more than he, so much so that He asked to be the first driver to go through the mega-play.
With the responsibility of being the first and guiding the caravan, Fernando, a serene man, and somewhat shy of the cameras, kept his speed within the allowed limits and in nine minutes he crossed Tolima.

The Coffee Axis is one of the areas that will benefit the most from the opening of the Line Tunnel. Its residents hope that reducing travel time will help improve trade and increase tourism in the area.
When families cross the Central Cordillera through the tunnel, they will save 50 minutes on the journey, but when trucks and trailers pass the savings will be exorbitant.
