Police of the German city of Solingen (West) found in an apartment the lifeless bodies of five children whose mother later tried to commit suicide, official sources reported this Thursday to AFP.
The mother is 27 years old and would be the alleged perpetrator of the fivefold murder. The woman tried to commit suicide by throwing herself onto the train tracks in the city of Dusseldorf (about 35 km from her home).

Upon breaking into the home in Solingen, in West North Rhine-Westphalia (west), the officers found the lifeless bodies of the children, three girls of 1, 2 and 3 years old and two boys of 6 and 8 years old, local police said. Numerous police and emergency vehicles were in front of the building, where a large security perimeter was installed.

The woman, a German national, is seriously injured and “She is not yet in a state of being questioned”according to a local police spokesman, Stefan Weiand, who added that the motive for the five-fold murder is unknown for now.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the woman went to the station with the sixth of her 11-year-old children, whom she finally sent to her grandmother’s house. The minor is undamaged.

Investigators are trying to determine whether or not the child was with his mother when she tried to commit suicide. It was the children’s grandmother, who lives about 40 miles away, who alerted the police.
Police in Germany say the mother is the main suspect in this case.
“The mother seems to be responsible for this situation”, confirmed the police spokesman to the press. No details were given on how the children died. But the police indicated that “investigate the clue” from drug poisoning.
“The family drama in Solingen fills me with great sadness and my thoughts and prayers go out to the five children whose lives were taken so early,” declared Interior Minister Herbert Reul.
